Dear colleagues and friends,
After our fruitful meeting in 2018 in Palma de Mallorca, it is our great pleasure to invite you to Ghent (Belgium) for the 24th congress of the European Association of Dental Public Health (EADPH). The theme of the congress is “Patient-centered care: multi-sectoral approaches to improving oral health” and will discuss and debate the biggest challenges to improve (oral) health for the current and future generations. Against a background of ageing societies, health inequalities and increasing diversity in socio-economic background of the National populations across Europe, it is essential to include the patient and the public at large as active participants in care planning and management, taking into account their wishes, values and beliefs. There is a wide consensus that (oral) care should be integrated across conditions, health workers, and settings throughout the life course. However, to date, progress has been slow in achieving this goal. The meeting in Ghent, on the 12th to the 14th of September 2019, will provide you with the opportunity to learn from and discuss with experts in the field of patient-centered care from both a political as well as a clinical perspective. Furthermore, the meeting will create new opportunities to catch up with colleagues and allow a professionally productive, enjoyable and stimulating experience. The EADPH Congress local organising committee has made all the necessary preparations to accommodate you in the best possible way and we look forward to meeting you at the 2019 Congress in the beautiful and vibrant city of Ghent.
